Local court files remain with the filing office. Use the directory of all 24 Maryland jurisdictions to reach a Clerk of the Circuit Court, District Court location, Register of Wills, local detention office, or warrant custodian. Maryland has no single statewide clerk address for all requests. Statewide agency systems serve different records and should not be used as substitutes for a local case file.
- Court case files: use the Maryland jurisdiction directory for the Circuit or District Court clerk that heard the case
- Marriage and divorce records: the Circuit clerk holds the original marriage license and divorce file; the Maryland Division of Vital Records supplies eligible statewide certificates or verifications

- Criminal history: the Maryland DPSCS CJIS Central Repository handles authorized identity-based criminal-history checks; a single criminal case stays with its court clerk

- Sex-offender registry: use the official Maryland DPSCS public registry for statewide registrant information and its statutory use limits
